Putin’s gangster army has been exposed to the world. Who knows what other barbarisms will be found when all of Ukraine is liberated
And we say all, because that is the goal now. The Donbas. Even Crimea. Despite the appeasers in the West – who have shut up – this is not going to simply stop. If Zelensky agrees to a ceasefire his career is over. There are millions of , literally, battle hardened Ukrainians who are now prepared to fight to the last Russian soldier. And that point will be reached soon. Hopefully by surrender, convinced by curiously so far missing counter propaganda, rather than death, in vast numbers
We should stress that we do not welcome the killing of huge numbers of young Russians who no doubt joined Putin’s Army for the usual reasons. More money for their family, maybe some useful skills, a bit of excitement compared to a dull life. Maybe a chance to start again when the world they grew up in was something they wanted to leave behind
They certainly didn’t join to be lied to by their officers and sent on a criminal escapade to murder Ukrainian families in their apartments. Families just like theirs in apartments just like theirs
Why some of them (and we still don’t know how many as a percentage) chose to engage in grotesque acts of criminal torture and murder of clearly defenceless, and often shackled, people who they would otherwise have shared a bus to work or a drink by the river with, is something time will tell.
But this has not come from nowhere. The Russian state – not the Russians – has an exceptionally disturbing culture of psychotic violence towards its own citizens for centuries
The genuine psychopathy of Ivan The Terrible (a poor translation, but accidentally more accurate for it) . The horrors of serfdom. The human meat factory of the Gulag and Beria’s barbarians in uniform. All so uniquely Russian in their continuum of awfulness. And in some ways, all still revered in Russian culture, or at least in its subconscious
Putin seems to have taken this a step further in a cult which would not be out of place in Africa at its worst – or even Haiti. It isn’t even coherent. It does not seem to have a goal. It is just one long drunk’s hangover rant. Ironic given Putin is teetotal.
Which leads us to the question everyone, Russian and “Foreign Agent” asks – is Russia simply beyond redemption?
When we see Putin cobble together the fag end of the Russian Church in support of his non-creed of nihilism, many ask is Putin simply an agent of Satan
Watching the campaign of disinformation which the Kremlin has spread across the entire world, like a psychological version of COVID, undermining every belief simply for the sake of doing so, we have to see the Kremlin as a fundamental danger to humanity itself.
If that is true, then nothing used against Putin and the forces under his demonic control is wrong. No Geneva convention applies to such forces of darkness.
That is the dark place Russia is leading us. Is there a single bogatyr left in Russia today, who can rid it of this Satan and his followers and bring Russians and their friends in other countries back together again, as the world should be ?
